Inspired by the raptors and Dimitri Mishkin;

I am returning to ‘blog land.

Hopefully Rob will see this and appreciate my correct usage of ‘blog there.

I was just reading out to Matt some of my incredible (if I may say so myself) dreams I have recorded on here, and then I decided I must stop being so lazy and blog again.

So whilst this entry wont be entirely interesting or big, more is to come once again.

I’m tired from jamming with Matt as we practice for an open mic we are planning to do next week, and the little set list we have is looking great, not gonna reveal anything though just in case :) .
So on that I am going to head to bed, and hopefully I will have some crazy dreams to write about again.
Maybe I’ll eat some fruit polos to increase the chances, and provoke my brain.

Free!

I am free from exams. 1 month and 5 days later.

Free love on the free love highway

Free love on the free love highway

The picture isn’t excactly what I am going to do with my freedom now, but it was the first image on the “free” google images search that wasn’t pornography….

I’m pretty sure my last blog entry was indeed the morning before my first exam, but nothing generally exciting has happened since then so nothing was missed anyway.

Dont judge a book by it’s cover ugly name.

With Reading Festival being only 71 days away and a lot of the line up now been released, I realised I have been very much out of the musical loop this year and I have deviated a lot to listening to music I used to listen to in my younger years. I then decided to start Spotifying some of the bands I had never heard of, especially those with weird names. I also decided to break my habit of refusing to listen to bands with names I think are just ridiculous. My first two for the listen were ‘The Airborne Toxic Event’ and ‘Dananananaykroyd’. The former because my inital reaction was “my God, could they sound any more emo and extra” and the latter because, well, you look at that name. Turns out The Airborne Toxic Event are not emo, and actually good. I listened through their album and found my self listening to it again. If you have spotify, give it a listen, or check out Gasoline, or Sometime around midnight.

Dananananaykroyd are a bit undescrible, although they use the term “fight pop” themselves which I can deal with as a genre. Despite their rediculous name I also found myself liking them, if not as much  as airborne toxic event, to the point of getting the album as well.

Think the next to invesitgate is going to have to be 3 oh! 3….

Well, well, well….

It has been a while since I blogged.  In fact it was the morning of my first exam when I got an amazing dose of carpe diem when I opened my curtains to sun and blossoms falling in.

What happened after that was a terrible blend of occurrences that are not worth complaining about I guess.

It’s all been busy with revision ever since but today I hit a brick wall. Not a psychical one – although that was not far off also – but a mathematical one. I couldn’t bring my self to go over notes for my two up and coming maths exams, and so,  I lazed. Hopefully I’ll pick myself up tomorrow for a full day of the horrid thing….

This will test the silent readers…. I need to listen to an album that makes me go “wow”. I haven’t in quite some time, and I am putting Spotify to some tremendous use at the moment, so buzz in some artists and albums for me okay? Do it,  now.

..and the way you dont appreciate Brand New, or me.

Today I got up at 8:55am to book presale tickets for Brand New this summer which opened at 9:00am. I was finished by 9:02am and I went back to bed for 4 hours because life is perfect.

Those who know me know about my obsession with Jesse Lacey [Brand New's frontman, lyricist, singer and guitarist] and as I listen to him sing Oh Comely [Neutral Milk Hotel cover] with almighty passion live on a radio station, I just had to start writing about it.

Those with me at Reading 2007 will know of ‘Limousine’ bringing a tear on as Jesse explains the story behind it:
The song speaks of a little girl named Katie Flynn who was a 6 year old flower girl at her aunts wedding. On the way home from the wedding she rode in a limousine in front of another limousine with her mother and father in it. At the same time – as jesse puts it – an over privileged Long Island boy had a fight with his girlfriend and decided to drink his sorrows away and drive up a freeway in his SUV on the wrong side of the road, and hit the limosuine with Katie inside. She was decapitated. The driver also instantly died, and the second limo stopped and Katie’s mother found her daughter’s head in the road and sat with it in her lap the whole time her daughter’s body was cut from the wreck.
I’m gonna share the lyrics and the song [under lyrics] just because I’m so stoked to see them again and want to share the amazing heart tugging lyrics they continue to write and perform:

“K, here’s your ride.
Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle
Pretend you garden grows,
And it’s your own day to wed
We’ve found your man.
He’s drinking up. He’s all-American,
and he’ll drive.
He’s volunteered with grace to end your life
and tidy up.
It’s sad to hold, but leave your shell to us
You explode, you firefly, you tiny boat with oars,
Feather oars
The world tilts back and pours and pours
And so, you satellite, you tidal wave,
You’re a big surprise
And I’ve one more night to be your mother.”
This signal interrupts
baby’s frequency not strong enough
Remain in my hands and smile.
“We will miss you but in time you’ll get settled
and we will write”
beauty supreme.
Yeah, you were right about me.
But can I get myself out from underneath
This guilt that will crush me
and in the choir I saw our sad Messiah.
He was bored and tired of my laments.
Said, “I died for you one time, but never again”
Never again, never again, never again
Never again, never again, never again
Never again, never again… [continues in the background]
Well I love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
[x2]
One’ll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
Two’ll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
Three’ll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
Four’ll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
Five’ll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply,
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
Six will love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
Seven loves you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
[x2]
Seven loves you so much, but do me a favor baby, don’t reply.
’cause I can dish it out, but I can’t take it.
[In background:]
(I’ll never have to buy adjacent plots of earth
We’ll never have to rot together underneath dirt
I’ll never have to lose my baby in the crowd
I should be laughing right now)

/end of Brand new love.
